The new year had arrived and I'm sure like a lot of you, that feeling of I've done nothing and ate way too much over the Christmas holidays started to sink in.
So on Saturday myself and my other half Ryan took a mad notion of going hiking up Knocklayde Mountain to burn off a few of those Christmas dinners, nights out and tins of sweeties. We soon realised how unfit we were after becoming breathless by the time we reached the bottom of Knocklayde before our actual climb.
We took quite a few breaks on the way up (mostly my fault) I blame my short legs haha.
We finally reached the top and Oh My what a view, it really was incredible. I felt like shouting out that famous quote from Titanic..'I'm the king of the world!!!'
We were lucky enough to have a clear day where we could see for miles around us, stunning views of Scotland, Rathlin, Ballycastle and much more.
It took us around 2 and half hours which included our breaks and also a walk around Ballycastle Forest when we came back down.
I highly recommend this to everyone, if you've got a bucket list add this to it, it is definitely worth the climb to see that view and get that feeling of accomplishment.
Here's a few photos of our climb, hope you enjoy :)
